The tourism industry in Curaçao certainly has many great years of development ahead. With the modernization of the airport and the targeted marketing efforts of the tourism board, a steady increase in demand is following. This demand will create opportunities for hotels, resorts, and a number of entertainment and hospitality services.

Hotel development is keeping pace with the new tourism awareness. The 100-room Hotel Kura Hulanda, the historic 18th-century village complex within Willemstad, has added 17 rooms and a casino.

The Kura Hulanda is also developing the Lodge Kura Hulanda on the western end of the island. This tranquil beachfront location will have 80 villas of which many will be available for time-share and partial ownership.

Also in Willemstad, the 196-room Hilton Curaçao (formerly the Sheraton)recently completed a $5 million renovation, and the Curaçao Howard Johnson Plaza is adding an additional 25 rooms.

New hotels that are being built include a Renaissance and a Hyatt

More than 12,000 travel agents will be courted by Curaçao tourism officials at trade shows and in sales calls next year.
