The
tourism industry in Curaçao certainly has many great years
of development ahead. With the modernization of the airport and the
targeted marketing efforts of the tourism board, a steady increase
in demand is following. This demand will create opportunities
for hotels, resorts, and a number of entertainment and hospitality
services.
Hotel development is keeping pace with the new tourism awareness.
The 100-room Hotel Kura Hulanda,
the historic 18th-century village complex within Willemstad, has added
17 rooms and a casino.
The Kura Hulanda is also developing the Lodge
Kura Hulanda on the western end of the island. This tranquil beachfront
location will have 80 villas of which many will be available for time-share and partial ownership.
Also in Willemstad, the 196-room Hilton Curaçao (formerly the
Sheraton)recently completed a $5 million renovation, and the Curaçao
Howard
Johnson Plaza is adding an additional 25 rooms.
New hotels that are being built include a Renaissance and a Hyatt
More than 12,000 travel agents will be courted by Curaçao tourism
officials at trade shows and in sales calls next year. |
